Jen joined the Board in 2018 as People Director, looking after all things related to staff and volunteers. She has recently retired but for most of her life she worked as a Management Accountant in large corporations. However, 10 years ago, she and her husband set up an HR Consultancy Company where she managed a team of HR Advisors supporting many small businesses in the Furness area.
Barrow born, and having lived here most of her life, she worked for James Fisher PLC and then The Furness Building Society as an auditor before moving to Liverpool. Most of the 14 years she spent in Liverpool, Jen worked for another shipping company, Bibby Line Limited, before returning to Barrow in 2000 at which time she returned to her previous role at James Fisher.
Having been involved in community work in the past, Jen was involved with the RSPB during her time in Liverpool, starting a YOC group in Crosby where she lived at the time. She also started a breast cancer support group following her own experience with cancer and spent spent three years on the board of Barrow Community Trust, raising nearly £20,000 by organising Black Tie Balls.
In her spare time, Jen enjoys walking her black Labrador, Jasmine, bird watching and spending time with family. She loves watching films and is a great supporter of Barrow AFC, going to as many matches as possible.
