BDCU Attends Mayor’s Tea Party
Barrow & District Credit Union was well represented by Directors Rob and Phil, General Manager Jon and Volunteers Mark and Nick at the Mayor of Barrow’s Tea Party on Saturday 22nd August.
South Walney families enjoyed a Tea Party with Barrow MP John Woodcock and Mayor Councillor Ann Thomson. A bouncy castle, face painting, football and metal detecting were among the activities at the community engagement event that was held on Orcades Green from 10am. The Credit Union team were on hand to promote our services and give practical advice to residents, alongside Barrow Women’s Community Matters, Age UK, Mind in Furness and Money Wise.
Credit Union General Manager, Jon, said: “We take every opportunity we can to get out into the community and spread the word about how we can help local people with their finances. We have all enjoyed chatting to South Walney residents and telling them about what we have to offer.”
The Credit Union held a word search competition for young people attending the event and three winning entries have been randomly picked out of the box. Each winner will get a Young Saver Account and £10 to start their savings off.
John Woodcock MP said: “There was a great community atmosphere and I think everyone really enjoyed themselves. Our area is comprised of many small communities that are filled with people who look out for each other and that is clearly the case on this part of South Walney.”
If you’re holding a community event and would like Barrow & District Credit Union to attend, please contact us with information about your event and we will always do our best to attend.
