The Barrow and District Credit Union is an ethical, not for profit financial co-operative which serves our members in Barrow and South West Cumbria with savings and loans facilities.
We offer an ethical alternative to high-profit lenders and a lifeline to those who struggle to access financial services. Our aim is to stamp out loan sharks and doorstep lenders in our area by offering affordable and manageable credit that works for you. We are owned by our members, backed by our community, and have no external shareholders to pay.
Member login area will be back online soon.
Our Annual General Meeting is being held at 6pm on Monday 18 February 2019 at St Mark's Church in Barrow (on the corner of Buccleuch Street and Rawlinson Street).
The Agenda for the AGM, together with our Annual Accounts and details of those standing for election/re-election to the Board, will be available at our offices in The Mall from 1 February. Copies will also be available at the AGM.
Tea and coffee will be available from 5.30pm.
We offer a range of safe savings products which will help protect you against unexpected financial pressures and to manage your money more effectively.
As we are a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) all your savings are 100% protected.
For people who find that traditional lenders won’t offer them credit, for whatever reason, it can seem that high-interest, payday and doorstep lenders - and even illegal loan sharks - are the only options.
At Barrow & District Credit Union, we do things differently. We have a range of loan products for every section of our community and we assess all loan applications based on affordability.
Free life insurance on savings up to £5000 subject to terms and conditions.
